HUMAN CONSOULTING

Team Development & Community Building

We all have different ways of communicating, relating and navigating through the world and we come with our own sets of values and needs. It's when we learn more about what those are and how we can support them, that we're able to grow as a team, and in turn, as an organization.

THIS IS WHAT I'VE NOTICED.

When a project is presented, we tend to focus more on the tasks at hand than we do the people we're working with. We talk about deadlines and deliverables and everyone knows who's doing what based on their role. We forget to explore how we're all going to work together to achieve our goals because getting the job done matters more and we care more about what the client/customer needs than the person sitting next to us. I think that there's a way that we can both get the job done AND pay more attention to our team without it taking away from the "actual" work. I believe it actually benefits the work, because we'll learn what supports our teams in flowing better, so the project flows better too. Makes sense right?

Words of Wisdom

"Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success."

Henry Ford

SO WHAT DO WE DO?

We use different exercises and tools that allows for open communication and we create a container of safety, trust and curiosity. We forget about the task for a moment and check in with each other about what our needs are, how we can support each other if there's a conflict and we learn about the different ways we all respond to the same things. We acknowledge each other for the work we're doing and feel safe enough to express when we aren't feeling acknowledged enough. We move away from building a workforce towards building a community of people working together, and we feel good about the work we're doing, and the people we're doing it with. We understand that the business wouldn't be what it is without its community members, so we celebrate.

Words of Acknowledgement

"Tess is a woman of many talents, but one of her best is bringing humans together. She knows how to ask the powerful questions to establish a strong sense of community and connection. She is deeply invested in her team’s growth and she puts her whole heart into creating a safe and nurturing space for everyone to feel comfortable to do so."

WHAT'S THE NEXT STEP?

Either it's a one-on-one kind of thing, where we chat about where you're at, what your needs are and how I can meet them. We look at different tools and models and we explore how we can use them to expand the way you want to lead your community and we pay attention to your process and vision. We can work together onsite, offsite or online, whatever feels comfortable to you.

Well there's two different options.

Or I work with your team in a group setting and we explore the different stages of development and how they apply to the group. We look at ways that we can enable the team to work more efficiently together using tools and exercises that encourages collaboration and motivation. We dive deep into how we can support each other to reach our goals, individually and collectively.

IF YOU FEEL LIKE EXPLORING ANY OF THESE OPTIONS, PLEASE SEND ME AN EMAIL.

THAT'S ME, I'M TESS.

I've had the honor of cheesing this big for 6+ years because of the journey I've been on, and the people I've worked with. I've always been fascinated with human behavior and how we relate to each other, and it excites me how different yet similar we are. During my time studying Mobile Design & Development at Hyper Island in Sweden, I explored how that can be integrated into working with teams and I dove deeper into team development and group dynamics. I moved from Stockholm to San Francisco to work at the UX design firm Idean as a Project Coordinator, and I was given the opportunity to practice the tools I had learned and introduced new ideas around team management. Most recently I implemented my experience and knowledge as the Volunteer Manager at The Center SF, where I spent 4 years co-creating an urban sanctuary with 50+ magical human beings.
